Installing the ABBYY FineReader Engine
The ABBYY FineReader Engine for advanced OCR capabilities is required for using the Advanced Picture and Advanced PDF objects, and for Simulated Objects.
This add-on must be installed on all Client (Robot) and Designer machines.
This add-on requires additional licenses and fees.
To install the ABBYY FineReader Engine on the Client/Designer machine:
| 1. | Download the ABBYY FineReader Engine package from the NICE Software Download Center: |
| a. | Access your account in the NICE Software Download Center (SDC). |
| b. | In the Product Update list, locate and download the OCR install package for Robotic Automation. |
| c. | From your orders page or from when you acquired your license, download your license key. It is a file with this extension: *.ABBYY.LOCALLICENSE |
| 2. | Extract the OCR install package to the Designer or Client machine. |
The path for the extracted package cannot have spaces in the folder name (or in the actual path).
Example: C:\Install_ABBYY but not C:\Install ABBYY.
| 3. | Create a folder for the log file. Example: C:\ABBYY_log. |
| 4. | Save a backup copy of ABBYY MSI Install - no SN.bat in another location. |
| 5. | In a text editor, open ABBYY MSI Install - no SN.bat and confirm or change the following: |
| a. | The path to ABBYY FineReader Engine 11.msi (in the sample shown, it is C:\Install_ABBYY). |
| b. | The path for the log file created in Step 3 (in the sample shown, it is C:\ABBYY_log). |
| 6. | Save the edited ABBYY MSI Install - no SN.bat in its original location. |
| 7. | Right-click ABBYY MSI Install - no SN.bat and select Run as Administrator. |
| 8. | After installation is complete, your license key must be copied to the installation folders on all Designer and Client machines. You can use the Copy ABBYY License batch file to copy the ABBYY license to the installation folders. |
The default installation folders on each machine are:
Client:
64bit machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\NICE Systems\Real-Time Client
32bit machines: C:\Program File\NICE Systems\Real-Time Client
Designer:
64bit machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\NICE Systems\Real-Time Designer
32bit machines: C:\Program File\NICE Systems\Real-Time Designer
